Before You Measure
Before You Measure
SonataSkins™ are made-to-order and cut to your exact specs. Measuring takes about 5–10 minutes, and this guide walks you through every step so checkout is smooth. We’ve spent hundreds of hours refining the process.
What you’ll need: a digital caliper (budget options start around ~$13), a tape measure in inches (used only for the total keys length), and a small ruler for one hard-to-reach spot.
Why there isn’t a model dropdown: there are 3,000+ piano-like instruments out there with slightly different specs. That variability makes a universal list unreliable—so we build your set from your measurements.
Let’s get started:
- Select White Key Count (below) to choose the right product size. You’ll use this number again in the guide, so keep it handy.
- Select Quantity.
- Follow the SonataSkins™ Measurement Guide before checkout. Live math checks your entries, helpful tooltips explain each step, and we handle the background formulas.
Behind the scenes: Each order gets 2–3 hours of setup to ensure accuracy. We’ll send a proof—faster feedback = faster delivery.
We’ll save your measurements so you can reorder with the same specs whenever you switch themes.
Happy measuring—we hope you love your SonataSkins™ as much as we do. Thanks for being part of our launch!

Getting started
Fill the fields to derive the average gap and angle.
C key
C check will turn green when Key Width and Narrow are valid.
D key
Formula: (Key Width − D Narrow) ÷ 2 = Notch (each).
F key
Formula: (Key Width − F Narrow) = Notch (F).
G key
Formula: Small = Key Width − (Large + Narrow).
End key shapes
Left end is A. Enter the Narrow width; we’ll derive the small notch.

FAQs
Disclaimer & Product Information
SonataSkins have been thoroughly tested on pianos and keyboards with plastic keys only. As of yet, we do not recommend use on wood, ivory, or antique piano keys until further testing is completed, as removal without care from these surfaces may risk damage. The consumer accepts full responsibility for any potential damages caused to their instrument through application or removal. SonataSkins are not intended as a toy. While our materials have been safely used for years with no transfer of inks, adhesives, or chemicals under normal or heavy use, users may come into contact with adhesive during application or removal. We recommend washing hands with soap and water afterward to avoid possible skin sensitivity. SonataSkins are single-use only due to stretching when removed. Full realized lifespan may vary based on environment, playing style, and handling.
